Whole and Half Pigs

How to purchase a whole or half pig:

  • Pay a deposit to Gray Fox Farm and choose an estimated processing date. 
  • We raise the pig and deliver it to the processor (Main Street Processing in Detroit, TX or Cobbs Meat Processing in Sumner, TX).
  • After harvesting the pig and the skin and insides removed, the processor will tell us the hanging weight.
  • You pay Gray Fox Farm our price per pound based on hanging weight ($3.50/lb for whole pig, $4.00/lb for half pig), minus the deposit you already paid.
  • You work with either the processor or us to determine the exact cuts of meat you want. 
  • You pay the processor (harvest fee and processing fee) when you pick up the pig.

How much meat will I get? 

  • Final cuts - about 150 pounds if hanging weight is 200 pounds, depends on chosen cuts

Why does the processing charge vary based on cuts?

  • Items that are cured, smoked, or made in links will increase the price to the processor (hams, bacon, sausage, links, ets.).

How much freezer space will I need?

  • 7-8 cubic feet for a whole pig
